Since more than 65 years advising in the laws of intellectual property.

The patent law firm Roche, von Westernhagen & Ehresmann (formerly named Ostriga, Sonnet, Wirths & Roche) was established in 1950 in Wuppertal. Wuppertal is an industrial city of approximately 350.000 inhabitants and is located in the industrial heart land of Western Germany within a 30 minutes ride to the neighboring cities of Cologne, Düsseldorf, Essen, Bochum, Dortmund, Remscheid and Solingen.

The main technical and legal focus at that time was in the field of tools, cutters, blades and textile and metal-working machinery. This relates to the history of the city of Wuppertal and its districts of Elberfeld and Barmen that were famous for their textile industries, including weaving and dyeing.

The neighborhood cities of Remscheid and Solingen are well known for the manufacturing of tools and all fields of industry relating to cutting.

With the change from traditional industries to modern high-tech industries and products the technical and legal focus has changed. Nowadays we advise our clients in all technical and legal fields of intellectual property.

Our patent law firm advises and represents domestic and foreign clients in German, English and French.

The law firm is headed by its three partners Dipl.-Phys. Florian Roche, LL.M., Dipl.-Ing. Tilo von Westernhagen and Dipl.-Geophys. Lars Ehresmann.

Our staff currently includes 14 members.

Within the last 65 years a reliable professional international network of patent law firms all over the world has been established.
