The European Patent Office has announced that a number of fee changes will enter into force on 1 April 2024. Some of the official fees will be increased significantly. For example, the 3rd renewal fee will rise from EUR 530 to EUR 690, which corresponds to an increase of more than 30%. Other fees such as e.g., the fee for the 10th renewal remain unchanged.
Quite a number of applicants such as micro-enterprises, natural persons, and non-profit organizations, will for the first time benefit from a 30% reduction in all main fees in the patent grant procedure.
