Tilo von Westernhagen was born 1968 in Göttingen, Germany. He studied mechanical engineering with primary focus on production technology at the university of Hannover. After his studies he worked for four years in manufacturing. During his in-house and outside internships to become a German patent attorney Tilo von Westernhagen studied law for patent attorneys at the university in Hagen and completed internships at the patent chamber of the District Court of Appeal, Düsseldorf, at the German Patent- and Trademark Office and at the German Patent Court in Munich.
